Challenges:

  • With many different labor agreements and various regulations to follow, it was difficult for Exelon to use the appropriate pay rules for each employee.

  • With the merger with Constellation Energy, Exelon needed to integrate the ERP systems between the two firms.

Benefits/Results:

  • The employee pay rules are defined and automated through the use of PeopleSoft HCM.

  • The PeopleSoft HCM system was successfully upgraded to continue Oracle support and utilize new features provided by 9.1.

  • The human capital information from Constellation Energy is now integrated with Exelon’s PeopleSoft HCM.

Overview:

Exelon Corporation, a Fortune 100 energy company headquartered in Chicago with over $35 billion in revenue in 2019 and 10 million customers, has over 30,000 employees that are governed by many different labor agreements and regulations.

 

Exelon selected PeopleSoft HCM for its human capital system needs. Accenture was hired to implement and later upgrade the PeopleSoft HCM system.

 

Exelon merged with Constellation Energy in 2012. Exelon asked Accenture and DTI to integrate the HCM systems of the two firms.

DTI’s Roles

 

DTI’s first project at Exelon began in 2008. As part of Accenture’s team, DTI configured PeopleSoft HCM to incorporate the many pay rules required by many labor agreements and government regulations for its employees.

 

In 2011, Accenture brought DTI onboard again to assist in the upgrade from PeopleSoft 8.9 to 9.1 DTI provided 14 on-shore PeopleSoft consultants to configure the system and perform development activities, including data conversion, interfaces, performance testing, system and integration testing, and data base administration.

 

After the project to upgrade to 9.1 was started, Exelon merged with Constellation Energy. DTI designed and developed interfaces to integrate Exelon’s and Constellation Energy’s systems.

 

While this PeopleSoft HCM work was completed in 2014, DTI has continuously provided high quality, cost effective services to Exelon on its other systems, including PeopleSoft Financials and Hyperion.
