Overview:

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is the mass transit operator in Chicago for buses and rapid transit trains. It has 1.5 million daily riders. The CTA service connects with Metra, the commuter rail, and Pace, the suburban bus and paratransit service. The CTA, Metra, and Pace are financially supported by the Regional Transportation Authority.

CTA selected the Oracle E-Business Suite to meet its financial and human capital needs. IBM was selected as the system integrator to implement the new system in the early 2000s.

DTI’s Roles

DTI provided IBM, CTA’s system integrator during the initial implementation of the Oracle E-Business Suite, functional and technical E-Business Suite consultants in the financial system area. These consultants learned the business of the CTA and performed the following:

  • Required configuration and customizations to meet CTA’s need as a large city transit authority.

  • Interface development to connect E-Business Suite to the CTA’s internal systems and external third-party systems.

  • Performance testing to help ensure the system handled CTA’s volumes.

  • Integration testing to make sure Oracle’s EBS worked with the CTA’s other systems.

Based on DTI’s work for them in the past, the CTA brought DTI back as a subcontractor to AST in 2016 to assist in the update to EBS Release 12, which was successfully completed.
