Tech recruiters have their work cut out for them as the candidate pool is getting smaller and smaller. It has become a challenge to recruit, but don’t let that stop you from taking the chance there are still great candidates out there! Below are a few tips to help you with your recruiting efforts.



  • Learn more about the role

Before you start recruiting, it’s important to do A LOT of research on the role and its requirements. The more you know about the position, the easier it is to finetune your search when looking at candidates. You should be able to articulate the skillsets required and understand what that are. This gives the ability to effectively articulate and explain the role to potential candidates and address any specific technical questions they may have about the role.

If you are completely lost on what certain terms mean, no worries! There are several online courses you can take get a better understanding of the skills needed for specific technical roles. And if all else fails, you can always simply use Google for a quick search. Whichever route you choose to take, it’s critical that you have come foundational knowledge before diving into your candidate search.

  • Find out where candidates hang out

In today’s world, coming by great candidates are a dime a dozen, especially as more and more professionals are opting out of work these days. So, your ideal candidate already understands their value in this high demand market. Therefore, they’re not going to be prone to aggressively hit a job search because the opportunities are falling into their lap. So how exactly can reach our ideal candidates then.   • Referrals

The most underrated tool at Recruiters disposal is your ability to use referrals. Ask everyone on your team and their network of colleagues. Go to colleagues in other departments to see if they have any interesting candidates. Use your social media! If you brand your social media well enough, you’ll be able to recruit candidates directly and get referrals as well. You must keep your open job opportunities at the top of their mind so that they can work as an extension of your Recruiting team. Don’t underestimate the power of referrals, some of the best candidates are just waiting to be found here.

  • Be Proactive and Targeted

You MUST remained proactive in targeting your ideal candidates. Even when it get’s tough and seems like there’s no end, stay dedicated to your search and you will find the candidates you are looking for. Don’t limit yourself to job boards, you can also utilize social media, online advertising, job fairs, referrals, and so much more. Be creative with your recruiting strategies as you never know what could work out. Above all, remain proactive!

  • Be Creative

These are all methods to recruit for technical roles, but there are so many more ways to find good talent. Just be creative and resourceful! Don't be afraid to try something new.
